Bio

_sjoberg_headshot31I was born and raised in the heartland of America before transplanting to the West Coast to pursue a BFA in Photography. In my time since University, I’ve traveled extensively for personal and work related photography projects. My portfolio spans the globe, from the war-torn parts of Northern Uganda, to the brothels of Southeast Asia, to cities around Europe and to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s hottest parties.

My photo credits range from live music (Johnny Flynn, Delta Spirit, Ben Kweller, Laura Marling) to events and product photography (Edun, Casio, US Open of Surfing, Mattia Biagi, Mighty Leaf Tea, Somaly Mam) to portraiture, wedding, journalism and documentary photography.

I approach anything that I shoot with the mentality that when I aim my lens in any direction I’m capturing a moment in history—immortalizing it in the beauty of a photograph. For that reason I take wedding photography very seriously— because I’m not just capturing any moment in history—I’m capturing an important moment in your history.

Since I want to make sure that I capture the entire “story” of your day to the best of my ability, I don’t put a cap on the hours I spend. I will be there from early in the morning, until the moment I’m released to go after the reception. I’m dedicated to working hard all day so that you don’t have to, and making you feel completely at ease. I dislike when wedding photographers monopolize people’s wedding day. I’m here to capture the events of your wedding, not direct a massive photo production. That being said, I will give you artistic posed direction as necessary, and will then proceed to slip into the background—while still remaining ever present—to make the story of your wedding day as beautiful and telling of your love for each other as possible.

I am also a proud and active member of the Wedding Photojournalists Association.
